Last of the Oregon Coast

We are back on the Oregon Coast as of Monday, August 1, staying in Seaside in the northern portion of the coast. When we got to our campground we left for lunch downtown where the Clam Chowder and Dungeness Crabcakes were superb. We were outside with a Pacific view! The buildings have a very New England look.

The Promenade was full of bikes and walkers and a huge beach!

The street antics reminded us of Key West like this silver sprayed freeze guy!

One of the reasons we came back to the coast was to see Cannon Beach and the surrounding Ecola State Park. The Park, on the coast was very pretty! We took a nice drive through the rain forest to get there...

We took a nice hike up to look out over Indian Beach...the sign said there were Cougars so Mom talked a lot...I'm not sure why, but I was ready for any big kitties!

We had a view from the top of Tillermock Lighthouse!

And back at the beach some nice picnic tables I checked out!

Then we headed to Cannon Beach, it was really cute with lots of art galleries, restaurants and dog friendly shops, but it rained so Mom and Dad took me home and went back on their own later. They met an English Cream like me...the family couldn't believe Mom and Dad knew their dog was an ECGR! The beach was huge, it was only 2 hours after high tide...a beach bigger than HHI, but you needed a wet suit to go in!

A nice man took their picture at Haystack rock, the 2nd largest formation of its kind!

The next day Mom and Dad went to Astoria, the oldest city west of the Rockies! There we saw the Wreck of the Peter Iredale, a ship from 1906 that didn't make it to the Columbia River due to a bad storm...

They also stopped at Lewis and Clark Nat'l Park with a replica of Fort Clapton where Lewis and Clark completed their Discovery Expedition in 1806!

We decided this stop wasn't as exciting or picturesque as others, but it's on the way to our next stop, Olympic Nat'l Park!
