Today, June 8 we left Gallup, NM and traveled to Sedona, Az. We traveled up to Flagstaff at 7000 Ft altitude, through Sedona, 5000 ft and stopped in Camp Verde at 4000 Ft. The temperature was 104 deg when we got here, about 15 deg above avg, ugh! We decided on a car tour instead of hiking. Mom plotted a course up Rt 179, the Red Rocks Scenic Highway, up Route 89A through Sedona and on through the Oak Creek Canyon. Oh boy was it pretty. Red Rocks everywhere. Mom says the red rocks get their color from iron oxide in the rocks! Mom said Sedona was very new age, lots of meditation and spiritual places.
First we saw Courthouse Butte
Next was Bell Rock
And the Chapel of the Holy Cross
And Cathedral Rock
Plus several other beauties right in downtown Sedona
Up 89A we also saw the Midgely Bridge
And near Slide Rock State Park as we approached Flagstaff there was much more forest on the cliffs.
We returned home to still hot weather but a great sunset
Mom says tomorrow I get to hike if we get up really early, oh boy!
Mom kept her promise and we went hiking at Broken Arrow, in the heart of Sedona Red Rocks
We went very early but it got hot quickly!

There was just one tiny problem...red rocks and white puppy...ut oh
Still we had a great time
We even met up with the famous Pink Jeeps on the trail
And we saw a big ol sink hole!
We also saw cactus everywhere, but I stayed clear!
I had so much fun, even though a bath was in my future!
