This was our first trip to the Grand Canyon. We are here for one week. Thank goodness the temperature was wonderful, hovering around 70 degrees. It is truly spectacular. We started at the South Rim at Mather Point. There were lots of white puffy clouds that cast interesting shadows on the canyon walls. It was later in the afternoon so our photos had much haze, we've learned this is due to the Navajo Power Plant. We made it to Yavapai Point before our legs gave out due to the altitude.
On our way out we were able to snap a photo of a huge Elk and a Mule Deer on the side of the road!
Well I talked Mom and Dad into letting me go. What an adventure for a boy like me! We walked the South Rim from Yavapai Point to the Bright Angel Trailhead and back. Not only was it beautiful, but I got lots of attention from everybody who missed their dogs. I met 3 English Cream Golden owners and many folks who didn't know what kind of dog I was...really?? It was nice and breezy and a great temp!
We had to rest a lot for Mom...well maybe me too!
The canyon was so pretty
We saw rocks that were really, really old, this one was 1,775 million years!
We also saw the Watchtower designed by Mary Colter to replicate the Pueblan Watchtowers.
Well it's now Monday morning, Jun 13. I either over did it or I slid on the tile floor chasing a toy. I didn't tell Mom and Dad I was hurting, but we got all the way up to the Grand Canyon to hike and I was limping. Well, they would have none of that and took me to a vet in Flagstaff! Seems I had some swollen soft tissue but no joint troubles once she took X-rays so the Vet gave me a drug for pain and told me no hiking or activity for a week...daggone!!So Mom and Dad left me home and went up to see the Sunset!
Here is their early photo followed by how the light changed...sure wish I had been there...

Looks beautiful. Great pictures!
