Upper Antelope Canyon and the view from Lake Powell

Okay I'm putting this picture first so the one below it isn't the Facebook cover...I think it will be self explanatory why I did this...

On Monday, June 20, Mom, Dad, Uncle Bobby and Auntie Sharon went to see Upper Antelope Canyon. You'll remember Mom and Dad saw Lower the day before.mthis one you drove to and it was above the ground. Mom said afterwards that Lower was better and she would recommend others do that one if just one.  I'll let her tell you all about it since I was stuck home...in nice 68 deg AC😇!
Before we left, a trip to the port 'o potty provided a funny picture...excuse the bathroom humor!

The drive out to upper is pretty rough, dusty and hot...this was our vehicle, yes we were in the back strapped in!

The canyon is above ground and until I was posting pictures I couldn't put my finger on why I liked lower so much more than this tour. The colors of the above ground one just are not as vivid. The crevices aren't as small nor the eroded sandstone as sharp and defined and hence the photos don't have the same brilliance. Now this was still cool, but I would recommend others tour lower if only one. It is more strenuous but certainly doable.

This is when the dust in certain places if thrown up makes a beautiful beam

While maybe not as spectacular, Mom said experiencing with friends was great! They all came home after lunch, rested up and off they went on an evening boat trip on Lake Powell to view the Antelope canyons from the outside.

The demarcation line of lighter rock is how much the lake has gone down since its full level in 1980

On the way back, the sunset was one of the prettiest ever. Mom said the only time she ever saw such a huge fireball was in Key West!

The reflection on the water was beautiful

They came home and I tried to play with Cooper, but I guess I'm still a little rambunctious and he grumped at me...oh well, we were all thrilled to see each other. The next morning we said our goodbyes and they headed back to Zion National Park, and us to Bryce, what a beautiful country we have!
